This is a wild guess, I have an old Camry, my check engine light would come on. I went to AutoZone who I found to be a wealth of knowledge. For free they ran the engine codes. They told me how to fix the light after I did all the other stuff. if my idea doesn’t work go somewhere like AutoZone. One way is to disable the battery. I think I just took off the positive connection. Then wait about 10 minutes then reconnect then drive 30 to 60 miles. My computer did not have a security system but it did have a computer malfunction that reset itself. The other wealth of knowledge I get is You Tube. I just type in the year and camry and get a wealth then narrow it down. I have learned so much from them. Also do you listen to any of the car shows on talk radio, I love their sense of humor, I think there are two that I know of, on one the guys I think are called click and clack or a variation of that spelling. Car Talk is another one. I think Car Talk is the one that I follow on Twitter, I am so bad at this I am all over the place and don’t know what I am doing. But one of the sites for them I thought was a question answer forum similar to this. I am so bad it could be Facebook, Twitter, myspace haha or you tube, I am on all of them I am over fifty got my first computer about a year ago and just am having a great time! Wish I could be more helpful, do you have anything in your car manual? I bought the really big book on my 98 Camry. I think it was about the best 25 dollars I ever spent. My son did not tighten the gas cap on my new corolla years ago and the engine light came on. I went like a dumb lady to the dealership and they charged me 200.00 bucks to reset it and later I found out from Auto Zone all I had to do was tighten it down and let less than 100 miles go by and it resets itself. Course ya wouldn’t want to do that if you have any engine problems that might be masked by the check engine light. It was better to pay 200.00 than have an engine blow and have to spend thousands. But I found out it never hurts to ask. Good luck I hope your solution is simple and free!
