How do I bypass the security feature when I turn on computer?

My friend passed away and his brother gave me his computer. When I turned the computer on it asked for login password as admin. It is on windows xp. I tried to boot from cd drive with my windows xp disk but I really dont want to wipe it out. Seems the CD drive isnt working anyway. It’s a HP computer. So is there a way to bypass the login security feature without losing data?

  1. McDonger says:

control+alt+delete three times on the login screen if it is XP-professional

otherwise (any other XP), hold f8 (might be f2, i cant be sure) while it boots up

This should give you the admin login. Hope that he laft a blank password for it and hit log in. From there you can change other users passwords (control panel)
