if your norton is up to date i mean the paid subscription, than you can call norton and get a tech support at no cost. if your subscription is outdated than get the subscription renewed. And call norton tech support.

First question: Where did you get it from?
If it was downloaded, and it wasn’t the publisher’s website, it’s a cracked copy, which means that there could be all kinds of malware included by the cracker. Alternatively, it’s not a cracked copy. Instead it is a fake suite – and is simply malware using the NIS name.

Second question: Why haven’t you posted the question on the Symantec website?
Presuming it is a legal copy, they can help you better than we.

The only thing I can come up with is your program could be corrupted, or you have a virus that won’t let the program complete the update.

    Good Luck!

    Hello,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

Either an infection disabled some of the functionality of Norton Internet Security or your installation may have become corrupted.

The first thing you should do is to boot off of the Norton Internet Security CD and follow the instructions to download updates and scan. If you do not have the CD, please follow the instructions in the link below to create a Norton Internet Security Recovery CD.

    http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&ssfromlink=true&sprt_cid=743101c2-6826-4a46-8308-942d7d60a07b&docurl=20080612122232EN

After you have completed the scan and assuming that any major infections were removed or quarantined, the next step is to properly remove and reinstall Norton Internet Security, which you can do by following the instructions below.

    1. Click on the following link to download the Norton Removal Tool:

    2. After you run the tool, please restart your computer. Then log in to Windows again and run the removal tool again. Restart your computer after it is finished running the second time as well.

    3. Click on the link below and then choose the “Download” button under ‘Norton Internet Security” to download the latest installer.

    http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/kbload.jsp?docurl=step_2007102605434976&selected_nav=1&pvid=

    4. When the installation is complete, launch Norton Internet Security and manually run LiveUpdate to ensure you get the latest patches applied. If any updates are installed, restart your computer and run LiveUpdate again. Restart again if any more updates are installed.

    5. Complete a “Full System Scan” with Norton Internet Security to make sure there are no lingering infections present.

    Thank you,
    Mike
