Pioneer board of education approve student activities


SHELBY — The Pioneer Board of Education in April approved the appointment of Superintendent Greg Nickoli to the Crawford County Tax Incentive Review Council.

The following donations were approved: An anonymous donation of three formal dresses with an approximate value of $500 for the Prom/Homecoming Dress Program. These dresses will be made available for Pioneer students to rent for Homecoming or Prom. Another anonymous donation of thirteen formal dresses with an approximate value of $6,500 will be made available for Pioneer students to rent for Homecoming or Prom.

Several donations were given to be used towards sponsorship of the t-shirts purchased for Pioneer’s 2022 Community Service Day. Arcelor Mittal – Shelby ($500), Flashover Maintenance – Crestline ($500), and Kenser Farms, LLC – Plymouth ($500) were the sponsors for the Community Service Day. Donations to be used for annual student scholarships were received by Dawn Wright-Smith, Wells Fargo, Blackbaud Giving Fund, Charleston, S.C. ($81), Jim & Marianne Ritchie – Shelby ($50), and Michael & Terri Crain – Perrysville ($150). Donnie & Randy Perry – Mansfield ($250), and Sarah Besenti-Adkins – Mt. Sterling, KY. donated $150 for the Bob Janca Scholarship fund. Nick & Ike Costein -Willard donated ($250) to be deposited into the T & I Ruth Klenke Scholarship fund and used for annual student scholarships. Thomas & Katharine Sabourin – Mansfield, donated $150 to the Art Barr Memorial Scholarship fund.

Adopted Resolution 08-22 in Appreciation of donation from KB Machine Tool Fab. LLC for End Mills and Lathe Cutters with a value of $15,000. This equipment will be used in the Precision Machining Technology program.

The board approved student participation in competitive events as follows:

FCCLA State Leadership Conference, Ohio Expo Center, Columbus, April 28-29, 2022: Crestline students: Danielle Clark, Kayla Cotton, Hannah, and Rachel Grunkemeyer, and Ariah Zellner.
