Someone loaded AVG security on my computer and my computer is very slow now?

I got a virus and took my mini laptop to have the virus removed and after removing the virus they loaded AVG security on my computer. Now my computer is painfully slow. I already had Microsoft essentials. I’m thinking of deleting AVG because of the way my computer now runs. Isn’t Microsoft essentials enough? I ran a scan on Microsoft essentials and it found an infection and deleted it. Apparently AVG didn’t catch it. Do all security programs slow down the computer?

Not all, I don’t have much experience with AVG, However other ones like Norton seem to use a lot of resources. I recommend NOD32…. you will forget it’s even there and yet it seems to protect your computer really well. Doesn’t use much resources at all.

Antivirus programs that has realtime scanning features will slow down a computer to various degrees. Get rid of AVG. MSE should be enough. However, it wouldn’t hurt your computer’s performance if you also install Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. The free version of MBAM only scans on demand.

Yes Anti virus programs do use up greater amount of resources in order to keep you protected from mal-ware. Unfortunately, it wont guarantee infection free computer. Now, these days there are several products that minimize the power usage. The best AV i come across that uses the least amount of power is Norton security hands down and by far Ive had the best protection with it than any other AV. With that said if you have a computer that is running on 2 gigs of ram than you should be fine with Norton security but if you have a computer that is running on something like 256mbs then i suggest getting avast free internet security. Avast won’t slow you down as AVG but you will lose some protection in exchange for speed, but some protection is better than nothing at all

All real-time ones slow it down to some extent. Some are worse than others. (Real-time means it’s active and ready to “leap into action” if a virus or other malware tries to get in. Non real-time ones can run scans when you do it manually.)

This is a good guide to appropriate security and if you look in the download categories, recommended software has “Pick” written against it.

AVG security – a heavy AV

Microsoft essentials – A light AV

You can only run one AV – Delete AVG.

    tips:

    run free Ccleaner

Download & use free malwarebytes & free superantispyware along side Microsoft essentials

    download & use free WOT

The problem with slow computers is that most of the time. It’s all to do with a hidden part of your system .This part of your system is called the ‘registry’ and is a huge database which stores all the settings and options for your PC.The reason why the registry is responsible for making your computer run slow is because it is actually prone to getting corrupt and damaged. Because Windows is constantly using the database when you’re using your computer, it’s constantly got 100’s of registry files open. This unfortunately means that Windows gets confused, leading it to save the registry files wrong, making them incredibly difficult for your computer to read. Think of them as files which are all jumbled up, making your computer have to spend longer to read them. You just need to be able to clean out all the damaged files from the registry, allowing Windows to read all the files it needs, when it needs them. And to do this, you just need to use a tool called a ‘registry cleaner’.I should like to commend Registry Easy to you !http://clean-computer-run-quickly.com
