Future Leaders of America State Awards of Excellence Program.


The Buchholz High School Academy of Finance/Future Business Leaders of America Chapter enjoyed great success at the State Leadership Conference held March 11-13 in Orlando.

Buchholz High School students picked up 19 top honors at the Future Business Leaders of America State Awards of Excellence Program.  

First place winners were Siddharth Bianchi for Accounting I, Isabelle Tseng for Business Law, Anwyn Tanner for Computer Applications, Eric Diao for Cyber Security, Devika Kumar for Insurance and Risk Management, Noah Hunter for Personal Finance and Dylan Nihil for Supply Chain Management. 

Second Place winners included Max Conde for Accounting I, Vijay Hans for Data Analysis and Kevin Zheng for Insurance and Risk Management. 

Third place honorees were Keen Zhang for Business Calculations and Nathan Wei for Introduction to Financial Math. 

Fourth place honorees were Nolan Gao in Business Communication and Lauren Baltozer for Introduction to Business Communication. 

Fifth place finishers included the team of Hailey Cupp, Hailey Garza and Leslie Sarmiento-Vasquez for Introduction to Social Media, Lila Golde for Introduction to Business Concepts, and Edison Loftus for Network Infrastructures.

Baker-Polito Administration Announces 2022 Municipal Cybersecurity Awareness Grant Program Awards


Haverhill — Today, the Baker-Polito Administration announced the 2022 the Municipal Cybersecurity Awareness Grant Program award recipients. Administered by the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) and its Office of Municipal and School Technology (OMST), this program will provide over 57,000 employees from 210 municipalities and public school districts across the Commonwealth with critical cybersecurity training to better detect and avoid cyber threats.

The 2022 Municipal Cybersecurity Awareness Grant Program is designed to support local government efforts to improve overall cybersecurity posture through comprehensive online end-user training, evaluation and threat simulation. Awarded communities will receive licenses for end-user training, assessment and phishing simulation procured by the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security. Demonstrated buy-in from the Chief Executive in the community is a requirement of all program participants.

At an event hosted by the City of Haverhill, Lt. Governor Karyn Polito joined Secretary of Technology Services and Security Curt Wood, legislators and municipal officials from across the Commonwealth to announce this year’s award recipients. The City of Haverhill and the Haverhill Public School District are first-time participants in the program and have been awarded a grant that will see 1,900 city employees receive end-user cybersecurity training.

Unit: 833rd Cyber Operations Squadron

Duty title: Cyber Warfare Operator

Tech. Sgt. Jeramy J. Anderson is an exemplary content developer. He has exceeded expectations for developing instructional content for the host operator’s Persistent Cyber Training Environment. Anderson was tasked with developing two instructional modules and instead created seven. In developing some of these modules, he tackled the squadron initiative to develop a malware analyst role. The seven modules he created provide 17 1/2 hours of training, specifically targeting more than 10 lessons learned from on mission. Anderson has gone above and beyond his assigned work and is an invaluable asset to the 833rd COS and the Air Force.

Duty title: NCOIC, Training Operations

Tech. Sgt. Tommy H. Duncan III was hand-selected to conduct a review of the 341st Training Squadron’s STARS Program, identifying eight discrepancies and providing remedy actions. He also coordinated and prepared four senior NCOs to brief the 37th Training Wing command chief during his immersion tour, highlighting the 319 TRS’s unique mission and flight operation. Duncan directed four BEAST culmination events for 2,400 Airmen across four squadrons. In addition, when a Wingman’s child experienced a medical emergency, Duncan sprang into action, providing childcare, support and peace of mind.
