Father who hacked into 772 webcams to watch 47 women have sex was captured by the FBI after tip off

  • Christopher Taylor was caught after the FBI was tipped off by IT specialists

A father-of-three who hacked into hundreds of webcams across the world so he could spy on women undressing and having sex is facing jail after IT specialists tipped off the FBI.

Christopher Taylor, 60, was caught when IT staff at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta alerted the FBI after the malware was found on the laptop of a student at its aerospace laboratory.

Taylor had tricked 772 people in 39 different countries into unwittingly relinquishing control of their computers so he could monitor their private lives over a three-year period.

Police believe 47 women were secretly watched by the married man from his laptop at his £170,000 semi-detached home in Wigan, Greater Manchester, while engaging in sexual activity with their partners.

A prosecutor said the malware was detected on a student’s laptop by the ‘sophisticated spyware systems’ at Georgia Institute of Technology. That enabled FBI agents to link it back to Taylor’s unassuming home in north west England.

The investigation found Taylor had deleted thousands of files before his arrest.

When British police raided his home, Taylor – a full-time carer for his wife Wendy – told officers: ‘It’s just what I’ve been meddling with on the computer.

He faced extradition proceedings to face trial in the US for wire fraud and computer fraud, but the request was turned down after a judge in London ruled it would ‘negatively impact’ his ailing wife.

More than seven years after his original arrest, Taylor could be jailed today after he admitted securing unauthorised access to computer material and voyeurism.

Taylor also admitted possession of extreme pornography over obscene images found on his devices.

He lured in his unwitting victims with a phony link he placed on porn sites which, when clicked, would allow him full access to their laptop’s function, Bolton Crown Court heard.

Hackers planted false files implicating Indian Jesuit Father Swamy who died in prison

NEW DELHI (CNS)—Catholic activists and priests want the Indian government to “take full responsibility” for the custodial death of Jesuit Father Stan Swamy after findings by U.S.-based digital forensic experts that false evidence was planted on the priest’s computer.

In a recent report, Arsenal Consulting, a Massachusetts-based digital forensics firm, said the “digital evidence used to arrest senior human rights defender Father Swamy in the Bhima-Koregaon case was planted on his computer’s hard drive.”

The 84-year-old Jesuit, a rights activist based in eastern Jharkhand state, died in a hospital while imprisoned in Mumbai in July 2021 after being denied bail on medical grounds, despite suffering from multiple age-related ailments.

He was arrested Oct. 8, 2020, by India’s anti-terror National Investigation Agency and accused of being party to a conspiracy allegedly hatched by outlawed Maoist rebels to unleash mob violence at Bhima-Koregaon, in the western state of Maharashtra, Jan. 1, 2018.

Ucanews.com reported Arsenal said “the attacker responsible for compromising Father Swamy’s computer had extensive resources (including time), and it is obvious that the primary goals were surveillance and incriminating document delivery.”

Disclosing details of the findings, Jesuit Father Joseph Xavier said in a statement that the hackers “first attacked Father Swamy’s computer on Oct. 19, 2014, using a Remote Access Trojan (RAT) called Netwire.”

“The report (by Arsenal) shows examples of the hackers being able to read his passwords as he was typing them, as well as other documents and emails,” said Father Xavier, who is also a convener of the Father Stan Swamy Legacy Committee of the Jesuits.

The hacker also read as many as 24,000 files on Father Stan’s device and planted files between July 2017 and June 2019, Father Xavier said, quoting from the report.

“Over 50 files were created on Father Swamy’s hard drive, including incriminating documents that fabricated links between Father Stan and the Maoist insurgency. The final incriminating document was planted on Father Stan’s computer on June 5, 2019, a week…

Learnt hacking on YouTube, 11-year-old caught demanding Rs 10 crore from father

News Highlights: Learnt hacking on YouTube, 11-year-old caught demanding Rs 10 crore from father.

Lucknow: In what appears to be a bad effect of online classes during Covid times, an 11-year-old boy studying in Class V learned to hack from YouTube and victimized his own father by sending an extortion email for Rs 10 crore.

The minor had learned about cybercrime and security measures during the online computer lessons at school. To dig further into the topic, he took to videos on YouTube and learned how to hack email IDs and mobile numbers.

To test hacking techniques he picked up from YouTube, he hacked the email ID and mobile number of his father and other family members and started sending unsolicited threatening emails and messages on their mobile.

The bizarre case was reported from Indirapuram in Ghaziabad. The defendant’s father has a good position in the government. He and others in the family got scared and had sleepless nights when they started receiving these emails and messages.

The family was amazed that the person who sent them e-mails knew everything about them and their smallest household activities. Initially, the ‘tormented’ officer had sought help from his internet service provider, but found no help.

The ordeal of the officer’s family lasted a month from December 23 to January 24. His patience ended when he received an extortion email demanding Rs 10 crore or their secrets will be made public.

He went to the cyber cell and filed a complaint. When the cell investigated the case, it was found that the internet protocol (IP) address used by the hacker came only from their home. The cyber cell in charge, Sumit Kumar, questioned all family members individually to find out that the hacker was only their 11-year-old son.

During his questioning, he admitted to sending these emails and messages after becoming aware of cybercrime during online classes at school. The boy told the investigating officer that he learned to hack after seeing many videos on the subject on YouTube.

The cyber cell’s sleuths further question him to find out whether the minor has also sent such emails to his friends and relatives. The cell is also contacting school authorities to find out…
