what is the BEST security anti virus software i can get for my computer?

I have a dell optiplex 760 desktop computer and right now I have a trial period AVG security protection on it. Before I buy it I want to be sure it is the best I can get. Or is there a better one for me?

I would say stick with AVG. I only use the free version and yet it has served me well for years without any problems.

It varies from person to person, depending on overall experience from using the programs. If you’re looking for free anti malware programs, I would go with one of these: AVG Free, Avast, Spybot S&D. Bitdefender and Cloud Antivirus, are also free, and worthy of a mention, but I do not use them. I used to recommend Ad-Aware, but the newest version seems resource intensive, even while idle on my computer. Some people say otherwise, but I would avoid Mcafee and Norton, neither are free, but they really do not work very well. I’ve been using ZoneAlarm for a few years, and I’ve never had any problems with the anti malware feature. The firewall can be tricky to use though. And of course, ZA is not free.

I would recommend Avast Works for me Good better than AVG in performance been using it for years and they do have a free version as well just like AVG but at the end is just your personal preference.

It’s important to get one you like and one that runs good on your computer. AVG paid works good and has a good detection rate. AVG is not one of my picks because it seems to slow down my computer a little. But that may not be the case with your computer. What is really important is that you use common sense while online and be careful about what you download. Keep all programs updated Here’s a good program for that

I also like Norton Internet Security which I find to be very good and runs light. Here’s a free 90 day trial if you want to give it a try.
