    HI,
GET BOTH IF YOU CAN. THEY ARE BOTH VITAL. AND KASPERSKY IS A GOOD BRAND OF SOFTWARE AND I WILL RECOMMEND IT. however, if you want to see for yourself, go to phazeddl.com and download all the latest packages and you can try each one of them for 15-30 days, so you know which one is good before you pay anything.

A firewall is used mostly for online browsing security. Its function is to protect you from programs connecting between you and the internet or vice versa.

You can get one of the best firewalls, Zonealarm, here: http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/1001_cnet_zdnet/zlsSetup_65_737_000_en.exe

Here are some other programs for protection:

Windows Updates – It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.

you need two things for good security: antivirus and antispyware. they both are needed as if you use antivirus only, it won’t catch spyware in your machine such as adware or keyloggers. here’s a list of reviews and downloads of 74 most popular anti-spyware programs:
    http://www.2-spyware.com/anti-spyware
good computer security program should have real-time protection to prevent malicious things from coming to your computer.
and also remember, that antivirus/antispyware is as good as it’s last update! security programs MUST be updated often as new viruses and spyware are created daily :(
