Why is Kaspersky internet security slowing down my computer?

I recently bought Kaspersky internet security 2010 for my new computer. But when I installed it, I noticed that my computer booted up very slowly, and it took forever for the desktop to load. I also noticed that it took all my programs a long time to load. I turned off Kaspersky, and everything was fast again. Is there any way to fix this?

I used to have Kaspersky myself and there isn’t anything you can do to fix. I think Kaspersky overreached itself with this latest version and it drags the computer and the internet down massively. I had KIS 7 and I liked that program – very lean and mean. Then the program got bigger with KIS 2009 and still very good though, but it started to impact on my computer and the internet a little bit more, and then the final straw came with the KIS 2010 (I actually dumped this version and went back to KIS 2009.) And I got 2GB RAM Vista, so it’s not a RAM issue.

The Hardware requirements for KIS 2010 are:

    XP – 256MB
    Vista – 512MB
    Windows 7 – 1GB (64-bit 2GB)

The answer is there from your question.

“I turned off Kaspersky, and everything was fast again.”

It’s a shame that you bought it when you could have gone for ESET. I was told to try this program ESET Smart Security 4 from this very well respected chap who also had a same problem with KIS 2010, and I haven’t looked back since. It’s like a huge weight lifted off of my computer and my internet, and it’s almost if my computer hasn’t got a security program. I got rid of KIS 2009 for ESET even though I had 81 days remaining on my license key.

Kaspersky really slows down your computer. It takes about 2GB or higher of your RAM. Well, that’s right. If you turned it off. Your computer will speed up again. Why? When it’s turned on, my computer takes forever to load? And when I turned off Kaspersky, my computer speeds up again. What do I do???

    1. Uninstall Kaspersky from the Start menu or Add/Remove Programs.
    2. Download Mcafee, it’s better. You are FULLY MAXIMUM protected.
