How we celebrated the Patriots victory

Morning after the Super Bowl: These pots and pans on the kitchen island, above, were not used for cooking, oh no. As is tradition in the McNamara household — a tradition dating back to Bobby Orr’s “Flying Goal” that won the 1970 Stanley Cup — any time a Boston sports team wins a championship we take to the streets (at least the driveway) banging pots and pans and yelling joyfully at the top of our lungs.

The kids didn’t believe me the first time I told them we were going to do it, but now they’ve come to embrace the tradition as their own. Last night was special for many reasons, but being able to experience this shared joy with my three 13-year-olds will be remembered by me as tops among them.
