Credible, but unconfirmed, 9/11 anniversary threat detected, say DHS officials

A “credible,” but unconfirmed terrorist threat exists on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, said DHS officials late on Sept. 8, possibly against the cities of New York and Washington D.C.

In statements given to the press, DHS spokesman Matt Chandler said from intelligence gathered from Osama Bin Laden’s compound, that Al Qaeda has shown an interest in important dates, like the Sept. 11 anniversary. “In this instance, it’s accurate that there is specific, credible but unconfirmed threat information,” said Chandler.
