Dorries Put In Charge Of Cyber Security Despite Admitting To Sharing Passwords

Tory Nadine Dorries has been put in charge of beefing up Britain’s cyber security despite admitting to sharing her computer password with staff and interns in her office.

Boris Johnson ’s decision to name Ms Dorries Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in this week’s reshuffle was a surprise to many – who may know her best as a contestant on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.

The bestselling author, 64, has also been under fire over a string of right-wing tweets and comments about race, culture, media and gay rights – which, to her critics, are highly offensive.

In 2013, she prompted accusations of racism when saying ex-MP Chuka Umunna looked like boxer Chris Eubank.

She’s complained that “left-wing snowflakes are killing comedy”.

And she provoked fury by retweeting comments made by far-right extremist Tommy Robinson.

As part of her job, she’ll have responsibility for improving cyber-security in the UK – but has been previously accused of failing to keep her constituents private data “confidential and secure.”

In 2017, she admitted “all my staff” had the password for her private Commons computer.

She defended her decision to tell staff and interns her password, insisting she didn’t have any sensitive information

“My staff log onto my computer on my desk with my login everyday,” she said. “Including interns on exchange programmes.”

She made the admission in a bid to defend Theresa May ’s former deputy, Damian Green, who had been accused of watching pornography on his Commons computer.

Mr Green denied the allegations.

But Ms Dorries intervened in the debate, insisting the “claim that the computer on Greens desk was accessed and therefore it was Green is utterly preposterous!!”

Ms Dorries admission came just months after Parliament had suffered a major cyberattack, with hackers trying to gain access to MPs email accounts.

The attack was blamed on Iran.

Commons data protection rules clearly state MPs should not share their passwords, even with staff members.

Her comments sparked alarm from readers and internet security experts.

Reporter shoots video of Biden’s inauguration security arrangements, Internet says ‘charge him for sedition’

Just days after New Jersey Rep Mike Sherrill claimed that she witnessed lawmakers doing “reconnaissance” tours just a day before the Capitol riots, a right-wing media outlet was slammed for showing viewers the details of all security measures that have been taken to ensure that President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration will be a smooth and uneventful one.

A series of videos were posted by Right Side Broadcasting that showed the specific roads blocked off in Washington, DC, and what security is at precise areas in the city. Photos of fences and trucks blocking roads in and around the venue of the event have been posted by multiple news outlets anyway, giving people a pretty good idea of the increased security measures.

However, Right Side Broadcasting reporter Brian Glenn felt the need to walk through the streets, pointing out specific roads, corners, and directions in multiple videos. “We’re going to take you on a journey around the city here of what exactly is going on here, as is very much a different scene here in Washington, D.C.,” says Glenn in the video.

“Right Side Broadcasting News, a Trump supporting independent network with 1.39m YouTube subscribers, filmed an interesting livestream segment this evening doing a walkthrough of DC security measures for their audience. Over 254k people have watched the 36-minute video as of this tweet, in which Right Side Broadcasting Network anchor Brian Glenn shows his audience in detail where security checkpoints are, what they look like, and how to maneuver around locked down Washington DC,” a journalist for The Intercept captioned the video of Glenn’s pre-inaugural coverage. Legal analyst Marcy Wheeler characterized it as “Pro Trump media doing reconnaissance of the Inauguration security” on Twitter.

Democrats prepare ‘insurrection incitement’ charge against Trump

WASHINGTON >> Impeachment pressure mounting, the House worked swiftly today to try to oust President Donald Trump from office, pushing the vice president and Cabinet to act first in an extraordinary effort to remove Trump in the final days of his presidency.

Trump faces a single charge — “incitement of insurrection” — in an impeachment resolution that could go to a vote by mid-week. First, Democrats called on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke constitutional authority under the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office before Jan. 20, when Democrat Joe Biden is to be inaugurated.

In all, these are stunning final moments for Trump’s presidency as Democrats and a growing number of Republicans declare that he is unfit for office and could do more damage after inciting a mob that ransacked the U.S. Capitol in a deadly siege on Wednesday.

“President Trump gravely endangered the security of the United States and its institutions of Government,” reads the four-page impeachment bill.

“He will remain a threat to national security, democracy, and the Constitution if allowed to remain in office,” it reads.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is recalling lawmakers to Washington for votes as more Republicans say it’s time for Trump to resign. Republican Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, joined GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska over the weekend in calling for Trump to “go away as soon as possible.”

During an interview on “60 Minutes” aired Sunday, Pelosi invoked the Watergate era when Republicans in the Senate told President Richard Nixon, “It’s over.”

“That’s what has to happen now,” she said.

Today, a House resolution calling on Vice President Pence to invoke constitutional authority to remove Trump from office was blocked by Republicans. However, the full House is set to hold a roll call vote on that resolution on Tuesday, and it is expected to pass.

After that, Pelosi said Pence will have 24 hours to respond. Next, the House would proceed to impeachment. A vote could come Wednesday.

Pence has given no indication he is ready to proceed on such a course, which would involve invoking the 25th Amendment to the Constitution with a vote by a majority of the…
