Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Z Fold 2 get December 2022 security patch


Earlier this week, Samsung started rolling out the December 2022 security update. A few high-end Galaxy smartphones have already received the new update. Now, the South Korean firm’s second-generation foldable phones have started getting the December 2022 security update in some European countries.

The new software update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G is rolling out in Hungary, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, the Baltic region, the Netherlands, and the UK with firmware version F707BXXS7IVK7. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 has started getting the new security update with firmware version F916BXXS2IVK7 in Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Romania, Portugal, Southeast Europe, the Baltic region, and the Czech Republic.

The December 2022 security patch fixes over 90 security vulnerabilities found in Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The update might also include general bug fixes and device stability improvements. If you are a Galaxy Z Flip 5G or Galaxy Z Fold 2 user living in any of the countries mentioned above, you can download the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install.

You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. Samsung launched the two smartphones in mid-2020 with Android 10 onboard. Both smartphones received the Android 11 update in early 2021, the Android 12 update in early 2022 and the Android 13 update a few weeks ago.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4 and other Samsung phones updated to Android 13


Samsung released Android 13 based One UI 5.0 update to a couple of its smartphones the past week. The South Korean company has rolled out the latest OS update to one of its Galaxy A series phones along with its 2022 range of foldable phones followed by the 2021 foldable phones. The entire list includes Samsung Galaxy A52, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.

Among other features, the new update also brings Android security patch for the month of November 2022.

Firmware versions for Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 are F721NKSU1BVK5 and F936NKSU1BVK5, respectively. While the Samsung OneUI 5.0 updates the firmware version F926BXXU2DVK3 to Galaxy Z Fold 3. It is labeled A525FXXU4CVJB for Galaxy A52 in Russia.

Users of the above listed Samsung phones can update their devices to the latest operating system by navigating to Settings on their phone and then tap Software update followed by download and install. Most likely, it will be an OTA rollout with the update available to select users initially. It will eventually be expanded to more users in the coming days.

Samsung One UI 5.0: Features

Samsung One UI 5.0 allows Galaxy phone and tablet users to customize their home screen with new colour options, icons and quick panels. The update also comes with up to 16 preset colour themes based on their wallpaper. It also offers reorganized menus for quick access to all ringtone volumes and vibration intensities.

Galaxy Z Fold 2 gets December 2021 security update, starting with China

Samsung has released the December 2021 security update to a few high-end smartphones. After releasing it to the Galaxy Fold and the Galaxy Fold 5G, the South Korean firm has released its latest security patch to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in a few markets.

The newest software update for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes with firmware version F9160TBS3EUK1, and it is currently rolling out in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The update brings the December 2021 security patch that fixes dozens of privacy and security-related vulnerabilities seen in Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The new software might also contain general bug fixes and device stability improvements.

The international variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will get the update within the next few days. The carrier-locked and unlocked variants of the foldable device will get the update soon.

If you’re a Galaxy Z Fold 2 user in any of the countries mentioned above, you can check for the new software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

The South Korean firm had launched the Galaxy Z Fold 2 last year with Android 10-based One UI 2.5. This year, it received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update and will get the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update over the next few weeks. The foldable phone will get at least two more major Android OS updates.
