Nokia Mobile releases new Android 12 build for Nokia X10 5G with December Security update

Nokia Mobile has now released a new Android 12 build and the December security update 2021 to Nokia X10 5G. Check below for the update size, list of markets and the update changelog for Nokia X10 5G.

The update size for Nokia X10 5G is 97.53 MB. You will either be prompted to download this update or you can check by going to Settings and searching system updates and then by checking for the update.

Nokia X10 5G December security update changelog:

Nokia X10 5G is receiving Android 12 Build V2.250 along with the December security update. It is not clear what changes this new build brings but it may have some important fixes and performance improvements.

Here is what the December security update addresses as mentioned by Google on its official Security bulletin page.

The most severe of these issues is a critical security vulnerability in the Media Framework component that could lead to remote information disclosure with no additional execution privileges needed. The severity assessment is based on the effect that exploiting the vulnerability would possibly have on an affected device, assuming the platform and service mitigations are turned off for development purposes or if successfully bypassed.

Nokia Mobile selling 4th year of security patch support for Nokia X10/X20; Nokia T20 to get a Bluetooth Keyboard Wallet case

Nokia Mobile is one of the Android manufacturers with good track-record of supporting its smartphones with guaranteed OS and patch update support. The years of promised OS and patch update support however varies by the smartphone.

For example even in the X-series, Nokia XR20 has one extra year (4 years in total) of Android security patch support as compared to Nokia X10 and Nokia X20. Now Nokia Mobile is planning to sell one more year (4th year) of support for Nokia X10 and Nokia X20.

You would be able to buy 4th year of Android patch support for both the smartphones in near future. Listings have appeared at some European retailers revealing the existence of 4th year Patch support vouchers for the price of EUR 24.94. Check the listings below.

Nokia Mobile updates (December 9) its Security & OS update tracker with latest details

The official Nokia Mobile Security + OS update tracker page for Nokia smartphones has been updated on December 9, 2021. The page update brings details about the availability of the maintenance update or Security or firmware (MR) update for Nokia smartphones.

As per the latest updated information provided on the page, the November Security update is available for Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 5.3, Nokia XR20, Nokia T20, Nokia G10, Nokia G50, Nokia 1.3, Nokia 1.4 and Nokia 2.2. This is surprising because recently November update became available for Nokia X20, Nokia G20, Nokia 2.4 too. But the updated page misses this information.

The October security update is available for other eligible Nokia smartphones. But now, Nokia Mobile has enhanced the details provided for each Nokia smartphone on the page. It has added new columns for “Security Patch Cadence” and “No guaranteed Security Patch updates after”.

The cadence tells us whether the smartphone is getting monthly or quarterly security updates. No guaranteed security patch update column mentions the time when smartphone’s 3-year promised security update period ends.

In case the security update is not yet available for your Nokia smartphone, you should check the build number of your smartphone and confirm it with the information provided on the page. If the build number for a particular device is mentioned in the list then only it gets the update.
