Trump broke his H-1B promise. Now what?

On the campaign trail, candidate Donald Trump was so determined to present himself as the solution to H-1B visa abuse – the kind that has American IT workers training their foreign replacements — that he promised to launch an investigation of the program on day one of his administration. Not in due time, on day one.

Today is day 43. No investigation has been launched. No changes have been made to the H-1B program. And it’s not clear when or if any will be forthcoming.

That no one should be surprised does not mean no one has taken notice. From a Computerworld story:

The hacking group that pwned Zuckerberg’s Twitter account broke into Minecraft

The same hacking group that took over Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter account said on Tuesday it had found a way to break into accounts connected to the hit game Minecraft.

The group, OurMine, made the claim in a video in which it demonstrated the hack, which was aimed at the user login page run by Minecraft’s developer, Mojang.

Later on Tuesday, Microsoft, which bought Mojang two years ago, said it had fixed the issue.

You broke the network. Do you confess?

Today we’re taking a deep look into mindset of the network professional – his or her soul — when it comes to breaking something and owning up to the mistake … or not.

Posted to Reddit’s section that is devoted to networking: “Have you ever accidentally broken something then fixed it immediately to find your colleagues praising your skills even though it (was) your lack of skills? How do you react?”

The inquisitor answers his own question:

“Generally speaking I’ve always let the peasants (end users) think I’m a wizard while I tell my boss what actually happened. What have you guys done in similar situations?”
