BlueHalo Secures DOD Contract for Titan Unmanned Aerial Systems; CEO Jonathan Moneymaker Quoted

A division of defense and aerospace contractor BlueHalo has secured a contract from the U.S. Department of Defense for a delivery of the company’s unmanned aerial systems.

As a result of the $24 million contract, BlueHalo Titan Defense will provide its Titan Counter-Unmanned Aerial System product, which is designed using artificial intelligence, machine learning and radio frequency, the Arlington, Virginia-based company said Tuesday.

Jonathan Moneymaker, CEO of BlueHalo and a 2022 Wash100 Award, explained that Titan works by utilizing the aforementioned technologies to hone in on threats and maintain thresholds of safety for warfighters.

Moneymaker cited Titan as a “force multiplier” for military personnel and said it is intended to prevent casualties on the battlefield and will help the DOD meet objectives.

The award also comes on the heels of the DOD’s recognition of the Titan platform as a Program of Record technology, after more than five years of proven effectiveness in combat and domestic usages.

Titan’s products will be employed for pre-deployment processes, mobile security, fixed site protection and dismounted operations by a confidential government agency through the new DOD contract. The line of autonomous systems have been contracted in the past by the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, U.S. Special Operations Forces and various federal departments.

In May, BlueHalo filled a $4 million order for Titan C-AUS kits from the Army.

‘Hack DHS’ Bug Bounty Program to Begin Second Phase with New Contract Request

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a solicitation for companies to provide crowdsourced vulnerability assessment services—including for competitions and live events—for phase two of the agency’s “Hack DHS” bug bounty program. 

The request for proposals says that the contract “will be used to conduct crowdsourced vulnerability discovery and disclosure activities across the full range of networks, systems and information, including web applications, software, source code, software-embedded devices and other technologies as solicited across the whole Department of Homeland Security, or other assets as deemed appropriate by the program office.”

DHS established the “Hack DHS” bug bounty program following passage of the Strengthening and Enhancing Cyber-capabilities by Utilizing Risk Exposure Technology Act, or the SECURE Technology Act, in 2018. Under the law, DHS is required to establish a multi-year bug bounty program allowing eligible individuals, organizations and companies to receive compensation for identifying and reporting vulnerabilities in the agency’s systems. 

The agency announced in April that it has completed the first phase of its bug bounty program, in which 450 vetted security researchers identified 122 vulnerabilities in “select external DHS systems.” 27 of these vulnerabilities were considered “critical” by DHS. Researchers and ethical hackers who participated in the first phase of the program had the opportunity to receive up to $5,000 for identifying verified vulnerabilities, and DHS reported that it awarded a total of $125,600 to participants. 

Under the second phase of the program, researchers and ethical hackers will participate in live hacking events, while the third and final phase will allow DHS to identify and review the lessons learned from the program, as well as plan for additional bug bounty initiatives. 

The RFP calls for six time-boxed challenges and two continuous challenges during the first year of the contract, and then up to 12 time-boxed and five continuous challenges in the optional contract years. Palantir Selected for $90 million, 5-year HHS Contract Vehicle | News

DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–May 4, 2022–

Palantir Technologies Inc. (NYSE:PLTR), a leading builder of operating systems in use across the U.S. government, today announced it had been selected by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for its 5-year “Solutioning with Holistic Analytics Restructured for the Enterprise (SHARE)” Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA).

This $90 million BPA will allow HHS officials across the department’s many agencies and missions to select the Palantir platform to support their work. Palantir’s built-in data protection features, innovative technology, and common security framework were deemed well positioned to address critical technology needs across HHS.

HHS established the SHARE BPA to provide the best value to the department and its partnering agencies through a pool of prequalified contractors to, among other things, improve the delivery success and quality of data driven insights and outcomes. This contracting vehicle marks the expansion of Palantir’s scope of work at HHS and is separate and distinct from Palantir’s work with HHS and its agencies on COVID-19-related health missions.

Palantir’s first task order obtained under the contract vehicle’s framework is a 10.5-month, multi-million dollar contract to support HHS’s core administrative data and applications through a vertically integrated platform that allows teams to configure low to no code applications to manage, ingest, and access data securely, across business domains.
