Darktrace finds more attacks, cuts response time, saves money for Blackhawk Network

Blackhawk Network, a $ 1.9 billion multinational in the prepaid-card industry, was undergoing a consolidation of its security architecture in an effort to give better visibility into threats as they unfolded and that would also adapt to the threat environment as attackers changed their strategies.

“I do need to make sure that we continue to exist and given the recent events I think it’s more important that the section be permanently shut down,” he wrote.

The section was designed to let members offer so-called stress testing services for websites as a way to check their resiliency. However, security firms claim Hack Forums was actually promoting DDoS-for-hire services that anyone can use to launch cyber attacks.

The number and the precision of some the cuts leads police and others to believe they are related to the now weeks long strike between some 40,000 Verizon workers represented by the Communications Workers of America and management.
