Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Z Fold 2 get December 2022 security patch


Earlier this week, Samsung started rolling out the December 2022 security update. A few high-end Galaxy smartphones have already received the new update. Now, the South Korean firm’s second-generation foldable phones have started getting the December 2022 security update in some European countries.

The new software update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G is rolling out in Hungary, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, the Baltic region, the Netherlands, and the UK with firmware version F707BXXS7IVK7. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 has started getting the new security update with firmware version F916BXXS2IVK7 in Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Romania, Portugal, Southeast Europe, the Baltic region, and the Czech Republic.

The December 2022 security patch fixes over 90 security vulnerabilities found in Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The update might also include general bug fixes and device stability improvements. If you are a Galaxy Z Flip 5G or Galaxy Z Fold 2 user living in any of the countries mentioned above, you can download the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install.

You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. Samsung launched the two smartphones in mid-2020 with Android 10 onboard. Both smartphones received the Android 11 update in early 2021, the Android 12 update in early 2022 and the Android 13 update a few weeks ago.

Samsung releases December 2022 security update, starting with Galaxy S20


Since Samsung was so focused on rolling out the Android 13 update, it delayed the release of the December 2022 security update by a few days. However, the company has now started rolling out the new security update, starting with the Galaxy S20 series in Europe.

The new software update for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra bears firmware version G98xBXXSFGVK7. The update is currently available in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Southeast Europe, Spain, Switzerland, the Baltic region, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and the UK.

The December 2022 security patch includes fixes for 67 security vulnerabilities found in Android smartphones. It also includes fixes for 26 vulnerabilities found in Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Five of those vulnerabilities have been marked as critical, while 63 vulnerabilities have been termed as ‘high’ priority. Twelve vulnerabilities from the list are marked as ‘moderate’ in Samsung’s monthly security bulletin.

AIIMS server hacking Delhi Police launch probe services to restore online from December 6

Delhi AIIMS server hacking: A special cell of Delhi Police has launched an investigation into the alleged malware attack in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi. According to official sources, a team of the Central Forensic Lab (CFSL) has been pressed into the service to check the infected server of the AIIMS Delhi to identify the source of the malware attack.

A joint team of CFSL Delhi and Ahmadabad is also trying to ascertain if the attack was initiated from outside the country.The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of Delhi police, which was earlier known as the Cyber Prevention Awareness Detection (CyPAD) unit, has also initiated a parallel investigation, said IFSO sources. “The exact source of hacking is not known yet,” they said.

Official sources said that multiple departments of the Union Home Ministry and IT Ministry are involved in the rectification and restoration of servers affected in the alleged malware attack. The sources said that a formal investigation to ascertain how the AIIMS Delhi’s servers were hacked has been initiated by Delhi Police, while a team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also reached AIIMS Delhi and joined the investigation. “The CFSL’s report is awaited, and the Delhi police will release an official statement only after the report,” sources said.

The AIIMS Delhi reported a failure in its servers on November 23, and the servers remain out of order ever since then. Two of the analysts deployed to look after the servers’ securities have also been suspended for the alleged breach of cyber security. AIIMS Delhi authorities in a statement issued on Tuesday last claimed that the e-Hospital data has been restored.

Nokia Mobile releases new Android 11 build for Nokia 3.2 with December Security update


Nokia Mobile has now released a new Android 11 build and the December security update 2021 to Nokia 3.2. Check below for the update size, list of markets and the update changelog for Nokia 3.2.

Nokia 3.2 is receiving Android 11 Build V3.230 along with the December security update. It is not clear what changes this new build brings but it may have some important fixes and performance improvements.

The most severe of these issues is a critical security vulnerability in the Media Framework component that could lead to remote information disclosure with no additional execution privileges needed. The severity assessment is based on the effect that exploiting the vulnerability would possibly have on an affected device, assuming the platform and service mitigations are turned off for development purposes or if successfully bypassed.
