British cycle security manufacturer Squire launches Inigma Diamond BL1 smart D-lock on Kickstarter – Gear

British cycle security manufacturer Squire has launched its new Inigma Diamond BL1 smart D-lock on Kickstarter.

The digital D-lock has achieved the highest Sold Secure Diamond rating for bike locks, the difference being the advanced digital technology inside combined with uncompromisingly tough, hard-to-break materials.

The strong hardened steel lock body and 12.7mm hardened boron steel shackle make it resistant to attacks of over five minutes using a range of heavy-duty tools.

Inigma Diamond BL1 comes with maximum security AES-256 bit military grade encryption that keeps data secure and safe from hacking. Squire said its Inigma bike lock range was the ‘first ever’ to achieve two BSI Kitemarks, Internet of Things (Residential) and Secure Digital Applications.

Inigma Diamond BL1 works by using Bluetooth technology to communicate with a smartphone via the Inigma app download available on the App Store or Google Play. Weighing just 1.44kg, the Inigma Diamond BL1 is also portable and convenient.

Other benefits include sharing the lock with others, controlling multiple locks from the same phone, and programming the lock to open at set times and dates.

Designed, engineered and assembled in Britain by Squire, Inigma Diamond BL1 is the result of extensive research and development to design the ultimate D-lock that reflects Squire’s premium brand status for ‘toughness guaranteed.’

Now available on Kickstarter via a range of special pre-release ‘early bird’ pledges and discounts, the Inigma Diamond BL1 has an estimated delivery time of October.

Our Latest Techdirt Gear: I Paid More For This T-Shirt Than Trump Paid In Taxes

We were working on some new Techdirt gear designs for our Techdirt Gear shop at Threadless (stay tuned!) when the NY Times dropped its bombshell of a story regarding President Donald Trump’s tax returns. As you likely know, despite every Presidential candidate in my lifetime releasing their tax returns, Trump has refused to do so (also, despite promises that he would). For years, reporters have sought out those taxes, and somehow the reporters at the Times got them. There were many interesting things highlighted in those tax returns, but a key point that has resonated widely: in the year Trump won the Presidency he only paid $ 750 in federal taxes (the same as he paid in many other years as well, including his first year as President in 2017).

Lots of people have been pointing out that this is crazy for all sorts of reasons, and plenty of people, including Joe Biden have jumped in with “I paid more in taxes than Donald Trump” gear. But, here at Techdirt, we believe in… going bigger. So we’re selling a “I Paid More For This T-Shirt Than Trump Paid In Taxes” t-shirt… for $ 751 (plus shipping).

On Monday we released our line of Otherwise Objectionable gear in our store on Threadless and, the very next day, GOP Senators unveiled their latest attempt at truly stupid Section 230 reform: a bill that would remove those two critical words from the law. Of course, those who understand how important Section 230’s moderation protections are to the internet will fight to prevent this bill from passing, and then there’s the fact that it’s pretty obviously unconstitutional — but while the fight continues, there’s never been a better time to declare your Otherwise Objectionable status with pride.
