Can the security x-ray at the airport mess up or destroy a computer printer?

I am going across country for college, and I want to take my computer printer in my carry-on luggage, and I was wondering if the x-ray screening at the security gate messes it up. It is an hp ink jet printer, if that helps any.

It is small enough to fit in my carry on luggage and falls under the guidelines for restrictions.
