Top 3 Pro Tips for Better Website Security

There are more than one billion registered websites in the world, with three new websites being created every second.

And whether you’re a business owner, website designer/developer, or one of the 4.6 billion internet users out there, you no doubt are online every day and need to employ some form of web security to protect your personal and financial information.

Before making any informed decision on the matter, you must first understand how hacking can occur and how website security can stop identity theft in its tracks.

What is Website Security?

Whether for economic gains — by accessing users’ bank accounts or deploying spam campaigns that redirect visitors to affiliate marketing links — or for making use of system resources, like servers and bandwidth, websites are and always will be a prime target for hackers.

To defend against these attacks, you must be aware of their inherent threat and employ a number of best practices for detecting vulnerabilities and diminishing risks. Bear in mind that website security doesn’t mean you install a firewall and you’re done. This is a common mistake among website owners, giving them a false sense of security.

Acknowledge that website security encompasses securing domain ecosystems, user accounts, data in transit, web applications, and web servers.

How to Benefit From the Best Website Security

To ensure your finances and reputation as a business owner or professional aren’t compromised, there are several tips you can implement now as safeguards.

Tip 1: Invest in a Valuable Solution

Regardless of the size of your business or your cybersecurity awareness, digital security and peace of mind go hand in hand once you choose an optimal website security solution

You need that solution to scan your website against malware, spam, SQL injection, and to ensure you have a valid SSL certificate. You want it to remove malware, apply security patches, and back up your data on a regular basis.

Tip 2: Change Your Passwords Every Few Months

As a website host, implement a company policy for all your users to change their passwords every three to six months. Financial institutions and some other reputable businesses even send reminders to…

OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T Get New OxygenOS Update With Files by Google App, Latest Security Patch

OnePlus 8 series — including OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro — as well as the OnePlus 8T have started getting the latest OxygenOS update. The update packs the October 2021 Android security patch, bug fixes, and other minor system improvements. The OxygenOS update brings the Files by Google app as well to all three devices. As usual, the update will be released for OnePlus users in a phased manner. It is rolling for global users first and Indian users are scheduled to get it soon after.

OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8T update changelog

The Chinese smartphone major detailed the changelog on the OnePlus forum. The latest update for the OnePlus 8 series — the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro — comes in the form of firmware version OxygenOS 11.0.9.9 and for the OnePlus 8T as OxygenOS 11.0.10.10/11.0.11.11. But all three OnePlus handsets get similar changes with the new updates. These include the addition of Files by Google app that allows users to find files faster with search and simple browsing.

Files by Google app is a file manager app that comes with cleaning tools for freeing up space and allows users to find files with a browse feature. OnePlus is slowly moving towards integrating more Google apps to replace its own. The company earlier introduced Google’s stock dialler and messages apps instead of OxygenOS’ own to the OnePlus Nord.

The changelog mentions the OnePlus phones are also getting the October 2021 Android security patch, improved system stability, and bug fixes with the new update.

Initially, the OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 8 series will be available for Europe variants, but it will soon make its way to users in India and North America. The latest update for OnePlus 8T is currently rolling out in the North America region and will soon arrive in India and Europe.

OnePlus hasn’t mentioned the size of the latest updates. However, it is advised to update your OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8T smartphones while they are connected to a strong Wi-Fi and are put on charging. The update is scheduled to roll out in a staged manner and should reach all eligible smartphones automatically over the air automatically. Keen OnePlus users can also manually check for the…

POCO M2 Pro receives February 2021 security patch, no sign of Android 11

POCO made its return last year, but not as we’ve expected. So far, the brand announced a bunch of devices, but just two of them are original phones (POCO X3 and POCO M3) and they came in the end of the year. On its return, the brand brought rebrandings of existing Xiaomi devices. The POCO X3, POCO F2 Pro were mere rebrandings on popular Redmi phones. The POCO M2 and M2 Pro that are exclusive to the Indian market, are basically “clones” of two other devices that also are available in India – The Redmi 9 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, respectively. It was a weird choice to launch devices that are just too similar, but still, they are selling quite well. The brand is also providing decent support for its POCO handsets. Hopefully, things will improve this year and POCO will become a more independent company that launches original phones rather than rebrandings. For those who are owners of the POCO M2 family in India, we have good news. The brand is rolling out February 2021 security patch for the POCO M2 Pro.

A new update that is all about bringing the latest Android security patch

The POCO M2 Pro is receiving a new OTA update that seems to be including only the Android Security patch from February 2021. The update has a size of 587MB and unfortunately still is based on Android 10. If there are other improvements or fixes included in this update, the changelog decided to keep it a secret. So far, the changelog seems to quite positive across the user community.

POCO M2 Pro

Xiaomi is doing a great job so far with the POCO M2 series in India. The company rolled out major MIUI 12 updates back in September. And now are rolling out the MIUI V12.0.3.0 builds in India. This lineup born in India and reached the global markets with the POCO M3. The latter is an original smartphone with a nice package of specifications. It got released in India earlier this month.

POCO M2 Pro specifications

As far as the POCO M2 Pro is concerned, it is quite similar to the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max released in India. The device flaunts a 6.67-inch LCD with FHD+ resolution. Under the hood, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Storage. The device has a Quad-Camera array…
