The hacking group that pwned Zuckerberg’s Twitter account broke into Minecraft

The same hacking group that took over Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter account said on Tuesday it had found a way to break into accounts connected to the hit game Minecraft.

The group, OurMine, made the claim in a video in which it demonstrated the hack, which was aimed at the user login page run by Minecraft’s developer, Mojang.

Later on Tuesday, Microsoft, which bought Mojang two years ago, said it had fixed the issue.

Stuxnet the movie: The U.S. has pwned Iran

The new documentary about Stuxnet, ‘Zero Days’, says the U.S. had a far larger cyber operation against Iran called Nitro Zeus that has compromised the country’s infrastructure and could be used as a weapon in any future war.

Quoting unnamed sources from inside the NSA and CIA, the movie says the Nitro Zeus program has infiltrated the systems controlling communications, power grids, transportation and financial systems, and is still ready to “disrupt, degrade and destroy” that infrastructure if a war should break out with Iran.

The multi-million dollar program was run from within the NSA during the same time Stuxnet was active, and was put in place should the U.S. be drawn into a war there because Israel launched an attack against Iran, according the film by academy award winning director Alex Gibney. The movie opened in U.S. theaters today.

RSA: Verizon details data breaches from pirates to pwned water district

In one case pirates – actual pirates – boarded cargo ships armed with a list of which shipping containers contained jewelry and went straight to them, stole the gems and left.

In another, attackers took control of the mainframe at a water district, mixed sewage with the drinking water, boosted the chlorine to dangerous levels and stole customer information.

These are two of 18 representative case studies in Verizon’s new Data Breach Digest, a compendium of anonymized customer investigations performed by the company’s Research, Investigations, Solutions and Knowledge (RISK) Team and released at RSA Conference 2016.
