whenever I switch on my computer, why does window security center shows that my computer is at risk ?

My windowdefender is turned off and security center does not recognises anti virus installled. Is my computer hacked ? Is my computer is at risk? I have installed mcafee virus scan. Is it enough or a new upgrade is needed? Why does it happen ?
Please suggest some solution.

you can turn on the windows defender, there is no reason for it to be turned off, whereas recognizing the antivirus is concerned, it is ok if you get that message.

You just answered your own question…

You get the warning because “WindowsDefender is turned off and security center does not recognise the anti-virus installed”.

You are in fact not at risk. To stop the messages, open Security Centre and click ‘Change the way security centre alerts me’ (or something similar). Deselect all the options, and the warnings will stop.

MIne does to! Guess its a way for us computer consumers to go out and spend more money to fend off hackers to buy the hackers anit spyware/adware/virus software.

there are 3 things why you get this message
    1. your firewall is disable, enabling windows firewall might solve your problem.
    2. automatic updates turned off. enable automatic updates and downloading this updates once a month will be helpful.
3, your anvirus(mcafee) is expired or atleast needs to be updated, if thats the issue update your mcafee. if its expired replace your antivirus software try free antivirus softwares like AVG Free.

    Hello,
Check your Windows firewall. Usually this message means that it is not enabled. McCafee is fine software. you have to update your subscription every year with any anti-virus software, so check your subscription. You may need to reinstall Defender. I had to, and it is different now.

you could do a number of things…

if you no longer want to see security center at all..
    click
start > control panel > administrative tools > services

scroll until you see “security center” and right click > properties

    startup type = disabled
    click stop

click apply after the service is stopped.

    click ok
close all windows you have opened in this process.

    or

you could click start > run
    type regedit

WARNING: modifying the registry could cause your computer to stop working. proceed at own risk

in regedit go to Hkey_local_machinesoftwaremicrosoftsecurity centermonitoring

right click monitoring and select add > key name it McAfeeAntivirus

    close regedit

    restart your system
