Tonkeeper Wallet for Android rolls out staking option and enhanced security features

The Tonkeeper Wallet app for Android has recently added a new staking option for TON, bringing delegated staking to all users. This feature allows users to delegate their Toncoins to validators, who participate in the network’s consensus protocol. This addition also includes a convenient option to top up your TON wallet directly from the staking screen. However, the app reminds users to be cautious, as the staking option relies on third-party smart contracts.

How to access and use the staking feature:

  1. Open the Tonkeeper Wallet app on your Android device.
  2. From the home screen, you’ll find the staking option.
  3. Select the desired validator (operated by Ton Whales) to delegate your Toncoins to.
  4. Your Toncoins will then increase the stake of the chosen validator.
  5. Monitor the status of your staked coins in real time and top up or withdraw coins as needed.

The staking feature is particularly useful for users who want to benefit from the delegated staking model while keeping their coins secured by smart contracts that guarantee all penalties are paid by the validator in case of any discrepancies. This model offers a real-time overview of your investments and the convenience of managing your staking directly from the app.

In an effort to streamline and provide access to digital information people access every day, Samsung has unveiled its new wallet, which combines the existing Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass platforms into one. The new platform will store and let users access digital IDs, payment and loyalty cards, keys, boarding passes and more, the company said.

According to the company, Samsung Wallet is using Samsung Knox for defense-grade security. Protections include fingerprint recognition and encryption to help safeguard users’ sensitive data. In addition to Samsung Knox, certain key sensitive items in the wallet are stored in Secure Element, an isolated environment designed to help protect against digital and physical hacking.

The wallet also takes advantage of an open Galaxy ecosystem by integrating with Samsung’s Blockchain Wallet to monitor cryptocurrencies and SmartThings to unlock doors.

Additionally, Samsung Wallet expands Galaxy functionality to provide new convenient use cases such as Samsung automobile keys on select BMW, Genesis, Hyundai and Kia models. The company said more automaker partnerships are expected. The storage of boarding passes starts with a partnership with Korean Air.

Singapore rolls out cyber security certification scheme

Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency (CSA) has launched a new cyber security certification scheme to recognise organisations with good cyber security practices.

Comprising two cyber security marks, Cyber Essentials and Cyber Trust, the scheme was developed in consultation with certification practitioners, technology providers and trade associations, taking into consideration the organisational profiles and operational needs of enterprises in Singapore.

Cyber Essentials is aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which tend to have limited cyber security resources, adopt cyber security measures to protect their systems, such as data backups, access controls and incident response.

For larger firms, Cyber Trust will provide a risk-based approach to help them understand their risk profiles and identify relevant cyber security preparedness areas required to mitigate security risks.

This is done through five cyber security preparedness tiers that correspond to an organisation’s risk profile, with each tier comprising 10 to 22 domains such as governance, cyber education, information asset protection and cyber security resilience, among others.

Led by CSA and the Singapore Standards Council (SSC) with support from the Infocomm Media Development Authority, the preparedness tiers are part of a Technical Reference (TR) on cyber security standards which is expected to be published in the second quarter of 2022.

CSA said the new two cyber security marks do not certify the cyber security of specific products or services. Rather, they certify the cyber security measures adopted by an organisation.

In rolling out the certification programme, CSA has appointed eight independent certification bodies for enterprises applying for either Cyber Essentials or Cyber Trust. While the security marks are not mandatory, CSA said it will work with industry partners, such as trade associations and business groups to encourage adoption.

David Koh, chief executive of CSA, said the security certification scheme is timely and that companies could be required to demonstrate their cyber security to provide greater assurance to their customers. “Having the certification reflects the…

Microsoft rolls out access to the Amazon Appstore Preview in Windows 11 – TechCrunch

Last October, Microsoft began testing Android apps on Windows 11 PCs in partnership with Amazon and its app store. However, the feature was only available to beta testers participating in the Windows 11 Insider Program, and was limited to around 50 apps. Today, the company is opening access to a broader audience with the arrival of the Amazon Appstore Preview in the Microsoft Store, which will now offer more than 1,000 apps and games.

Alongside this launch, Microsoft is also rolling out select Windows Taskbar improvements and redesigned Media Player and Notepad apps.

Originally, Android app beta testers were able to try out apps like Amazon’s Kindle app, The Washington Post, Clash of Kings, Coin Master and Lego Duplo World, among others. The experience is built on the Android platform via the new Windows Subsystem for Android, powered by Intel’s Bridge Technology. Both AMD and Intel devices are supported, however, given they meet hardware requirements for running Windows 11.

The expanded access to the Amazon Appstore Preview began rolling out earlier this morning, as engineering prep work was needed to stage the experience. But the full integrated experience wasn’t yet live.

Now, Windows 11 users in the U.S. will be able to access the Amazon Appstore Preview and download over 1,000 more apps and games in partnership with Amazon, including top apps like Audible, Subway Surfers, Lords Mobile, Khan Academy Kids and others. To get started, users will need to open, then update, their Microsoft Store (click Get updates in Microsoft Store > Library.) You can then search for your favorite apps and games and download them through the Amazon Appstore. The idea is that the apps will run in a way that makes them feel like a part of Windows, as they’ll integrate with Windows input and windowing experiences, like Snap layouts.

Taskbar improvements are also rolling out today. The redesigned version of the taskbar in Windows 11 received a lot of complaints from users who didn’t appreciate that the bar was now locked to the bottom of the screen and didn’t allow users to add their own shortcuts. Microsoft heard the…
