As UK Charged Daniel Kaye For Cyber-Attack On LoneStar Network, Justice Minister Vows To Get Involve

As the United States Department of Justice arraigned Daniel Kaye, this week, the same person who was approached and hired by Avy Zaidenberg of LISCR, an American citizen to implement the DDOS attack on Liberia, specifically Lonestar MTN, this move comes for his alleged connections to The Real Deal, a dark web market that sold hacking tools and stolen login credentials for U.S. government’s computers.

According to multiple information featured on international news wires noted that  victim management  of Daniel Kaye have begun contemplating plans to launch legal proceedings against Cellcom and Orange Liberia Inc., in relation to the cyber-attack carried out against the company in 2016.

However, our sources further disclosed that one of the culprits, Avy Shah is reportedly on the run amid the trial expected to commence the first week in December, 2022 in London, the United Kingdom

Kaye admitted being hired by a Cellcom operative to launch a cyber-attack on Lonestar in 2016, according to the BBC, Kaye along with Mr. Avishai Marziano, a former Cellcom Telecommunications Limited Chief Executive and Mr. Ran Polani were scheduled to face trial in an English Commercial court in 2019.

In a statement issued at the time, a copy of which was sent to this paper via email, Lonestar Cell MTN confirmed the proceedings against Kaye, saying that it has provided a business impact statement in criminal proceedings against the Briton.

The attack caused considerable damage to Lonestar’s business and disruption to our customers in Liberia. In those circumstances, Lonestar Cell MTN and MTN Group considered it was appropriate and indeed important to provide a business impact statement to explain the impact of the cyber-attack on Lonestar,” a source at the company in an exclusive interview said.

Kaye remains at the heart of a major international investigation into hundreds of acts of cyber sabotage around the world. The National Crime Agency says Kaye is perhaps the most significant cyber-criminal yet caught in the UK.

Kaye was jailed for 32 months at Blackfriars Crown Court in London.  Judge Alexander Milne QC said at the time that Kaye had committed a “cynical” financial crime. He added:…

Deputy Minister Bornyakov on resisting with tech, crypto and hacking

Ukraine has made crypto, social media and a cyber army the pillars of its resistance against Russia.

Ukraine has made crypto, social media and a cyber army the pillars of its resistance against Russia.

Quick fundraising in cryptocurrencies, an army of volunteer hackers, and a strong voice on social media have all helped Ukraine put up an unexpectedly strong front against Russia’s invasion over the past three weeks.

The digital war has become a key pillar of Ukraine’s resistance, and the experience the country is accumulating in the sector could be key to its post-war reconstruction, Alex Bornyakov, the Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, told Euronews Next.

In particular, Ukraine is hoping to eventually become a leader in the use of cryptocurrencies, which proved a lifeline in the early days of the war, when donations in digital coins came pouring in from around the world.

“It exceeded all of our expectations,” Bornyakov said in a video interview.

The state-run Crypto Fund of Ukraine – which accepts donations in digital currencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum – has raised $55 million (around €50 million) so far. In terms of overall crypto donations to the country, this figure is more likely in the region of $100 million (€90 million), according to the latest estimates.

The Ukrainian government has already spent $34 million (€30 million) of that to buy bullet-proof vests, night vision goggles, helmets, medicine and food supplies for fighters on the front lines, Bornyakov said, speaking on Zoom via a Starlink internet terminal from an undisclosed location in Ukraine.

“Now we’re considering to help our government buy armoured vehicles, to get people back and forth because there’s a high probability of getting hit and we need armoured vehicles,” he said.

Using crypto instead of traditional financial institutions has made money transfers much faster and more nimble, he said, noting that in a war, time is crucial.

“You can imagine a bank transfer – if you send money and then you wait for two or three days,” he said. “In crypto, you just send the money and in five 10 minutes, the transaction is done”.

Immigration Minister accepts ‘unconcious bias’ problem as some religions favoured for grant funding

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Mr Hawke recognised there can be additional challenges faced by smaller community groups trying to engage with government programs.

“I think there can be unconscious bias in departments about issues in relation to different religions, I’ve spoken to my secretary about that,” he said.

“We are constantly working to improve and train our officers about cultural awareness about all faiths, how they operate. Sometimes they’re different structurally compared to Western religions.

“We can make some improvements there.”

The community safety fund was set up in 2016 and has seen eight selection processes across five rounds, with $184 million in grants awarded to 700 applicants. A sixth round is underway.

The program was set up to address crime and anti-social behaviour by funding crime prevention initiatives such as fixed and mobile security cameras and lighting.

In 2019, following the Christchurch terrorist attacks, they were expanded to protect schools, pre-schools and community organisations facing security risks associated with racial and religious intolerance.

The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) report, released on Monday, found that overall, 84 per cent of funding went to religious organisations.

But it said that while the distribution of applications and funding approved was “reflective of the population of applications received” in terms of electorates, funds largely went to Jewish or Christian community organisations.

“Applications were received from, and consequently funding was largely awarded to, community organisations that identified as Jewish or Christian,” it says.

“Relatively few applications were received from, and funding awarded to, community groups identifying as Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu or Sikh.

“Identified cultural groups were also not well represented in terms of either applications received or grant funding awarded.”

The report found that “over the life of the program there have been 16 different cultural groups that have applied for funding that have not had any funding awarded: Filipino, Iraqi, Italian, Russian, Assyrian, Chinese, Congolese, Fujian, Indian, Iranian, Korean, Kurdish, Malaysian,…

Twitter handles of Union minister, Rajasthan Governor, former Haryana CM hacked

REPRESENTATIVE IMAGE

The Twitter handles of a Union minister, a Governor and a former chief minister were hacked on Sunday. The hackers changed the names of these handles and used them to post tweets in Urdu.

The handles of Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra, Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh, and former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda have now been retrieved.

While the Twitter handle of Bhupinder Singh Hooda was renamed as @iLoveAlbaik, the other two accounts were used to post tweets in Urdu.

These hacking incidents come close on the heels of similar instances in recent days.

Just last night, the NDRF’s official Twitter account was compromised. The account was then used to tweet malicious links before it was finally recovered.

The Twitter accounts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) and the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) were also briefly compromised in recent weeks. The handles were even used to tweet crypto-currency-related malicious links.
